Financial Help

Benefits

A number of benefits are available to support people who have caring responsibilities. And, happily, there are also some very knowledgeable local people who can advise you about whether you are eligible, and how to apply.

Whatever your benefit related enquiry Wirral Borough Council’s Welfare Rights service would be a good first port of call.
Their number is 0151 666 4570 and they can be contacted on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9.30 –12.30 and from 2 – 4. Or you can call into Conway Centre, Conway Street. Birkenhead at the same times.

Benefits for the Disabled Person

There is a close relationship between financial help for carers and benefits for the disabled person they are caring for. Important benefits for the disabled person are usually:

Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Attendance Allowance

Carers Allowance

More benefits

Carers Allowance and other benefits

Income Support and Pension Credit

Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit

Council Tax Discounts

Tax Credits

National Insurance Credit
