This service is for young carers between 8 and 18 years whose lives are significantly affected by the impact of caring for a family member with a disability or chronic illness. Their role means that they are assuming a level of responsibility for another person, which would usually be taken on by an adult. It covers a wide range of tasks.
We offer support to young people and their families. We involve them in a thorough assessment of their caring role and together we devise ways to reduce this, where appropriate. We have an extensive knowledge of statutory and voluntary agencies and draw on this to assist families. We run 3 evening groups where young carers have fun, make friends and enjoy themselves.
