Young Carers

Young carers are defined as children or young people under the age of 18yrs old who provide care to another member of the family, usually an adult who has a physical illness or disability, mental ill health, sensory disability or has a problematic use of drugs or alcohol. They carry out, often on a regular basis, significant or substantial caring tasks. Taking on a level of responsibility that is inappropriate to their age or development.

Do you look after someone in your family, who is disabled, suffers from a mental or physical illness, or who has a drug or alcohol problem?

You may help with:-

  • Cooking
  • Cleaning
  • Shopping
  • Looking after brothers or sisters
  • Giving emotional support
  • Personal Care
