Young carers are defined as children or young people under the age of 18yrs old who provide care to another member of the family, usually an adult who has a physical illness or disability, mental ill health, sensory disability or has a problematic use of drugs or alcohol. They carry out, often on a regular basis, significant or substantial caring tasks. Taking on a level of responsibility that is inappropriate to their age or development.
